The atonement

No doctrine in the gospel is more important than the atonement of Jesus Christ. If the gospel were compared to a wheel, the Atonement would be the hub and all other doctrines would be the spokes emanating from the hub. As the prophet Joseph Smith declared, “The fundamental principles of our religion are the testimony of the Apostles and our Prophets, concerning Jesus Christ, that He died, was buried, and rose again the third day, and ascended into heaven; and all other things which pertain to our religion are only appendages to it” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, 121).

I’m so grateful for the Atonement Of Jesus Christ! In order to be blessed by the atonement of Jesus Christ, we must do the will of the Father and the Son to receive the full benefit of the Atonement. And as we can see in Hosea 10:12, Daniel 9:4 and Psalms 103: 17-18, The Lord’s Mercy is extended to those who keep God’s commandments.

And to finish I would like to share a quote from President Joseph F. Smith, and it says:

“Man cannot forgive their own sins; they cannot cleanse themselves from the consequences of their sins. Men can stop sinning and can do right in the future, and so far their acts are acceptable before the Lord and worthy of consideration. But who shall repair the wrongs they have done to themselves and to others, which it seems impossible  for them to repair themselves? By the atonement of Jesus Christ the sins of the repentant shall be washed away; though they be crimson they shall be made white as wool” (Joseph F. Smith, Gospel Doctrine, 98-99)

I know the atonement is true and that through this amazing expression of Love we can be healed. Come unto the Lord and He will give you rest!

28 ¶aCome unto me, all ye that blabour and are heavy laden, and I will give you crest.

29 Take my ayoke upon you, and blearn of me; for I am cmeek anddlowly in eheart: and ye shall find frest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is aeasy, and my burden is light.
